Overview
Sites offering media services like sharing music, videos and photos have come a long way. User friendly interface and ease of controls over these sites make it extremely popular. KoffeePhoto is one those sites that offer user to organize photos and share them online, as well as make backups of precious photos and also print through third party links, although its photo print service is not the primary objective of the site.
As the site offers its service primarily though its program application, the site merely serves as a guide providing the crucial information regarding its software, how it functions and its benefits to users. The site started its service back in 2005 and since then it has accumulates more then ten thousand users to date.
Exploring the site
The sites design and layout is very simple and yet intuitive. The use of white and gray colours for background and with bold headers make for easy scanning of pages if not reading the entire paragraphs.
The site contains four pages:
Home (also Introduction), Install, FAQ/Support ,Blog
Its home page displays what the site offers (services) in nor more then three to four lines in each paragraph. Its introduction page is same as home page.
Install page similarly provides technical and requirement information in specific to the software the site offers to download. It provides Window, Mac and Linux version which is useful as it provides its services to a diverse platform users.
FAQ/Support is one the useful pages as it gives answers to the common question user may have regarding its services as well as its software.
The sites Blog is probably the most informative. It provides great deal of information about the site and its software. How its services differs from others. The blog page also contains sub-pages names by months (February 2007) which outline new services and updates made the by the site.
I also notice ‘About us, Support’ pages only visible along side other links from entering the ‘blog’ page. I am not quite sure why these two pages weren’t made accessible from home page.
The site also offers news letters by joining its news letters service from home page and also its daily blog.
KoffeePhoto software
As the sites service comes from using its software, you can’t really evaluate its site without it. My platform is windows so I downloading the windows compatible KoffeePhoto application, its less then 2.5mb so its fairly quick to download and install.
I hadn’t used such a photo service before because I simply never needed it. Majority of photos I had shared online was though typical image upload sites such as imageshack.com etc.
After installation the application goes though user registration process which is straight forward. After that you are ready to use the application.Even though I hadent use an application like this to share images online, I was suprsed how easy it was. I was able to uplaod a selection of wallpapers and use another of my email address to see if I can really see my wall papers online.
Shared photos online
The shared photos can be viewed in a slide show but I was surprised to find that I couldn’t view the images in its full size (resolution) manually. Never the less the application is very easy for a novice or for first time to use. Its user friend interface and simpler yet few options make it quick to share lots of photos at once and fast.
